Colby, Ks
Are you looking for a Kansas country wedding equipped with a barn, open field, and blue skies? On the outskirts of a small town that still provides everything needed for your event? The Prairie Museum of Art and History is just the place. The Cooper Barn is the largest barn in Kansas, built in 1936. It is in Colby, Ks, a town of 5,516 residents, but because it is right off of I-70, is easy for traveling, has hotels, restaurants, anything you need for your event, and many friendly faces.
Outdoor ceremony space and Cooper Barn. Open field, minimal trees.
Lonestar Church, available for smaller ceremonies of 100 or less. One room, no reception area.
Inside of Lonestar church which can accommodate 100 people. No reception space here, only the one room, also does not have heat or AC so is only available April 1st-October 31st.
Back of Cooper Barn with the Grand Staircase, many photographers use this for great photo ops, as you can see on their website.
Back of the barn showing the doors to the grand staircase. Opening these doors and putting up an arch would make a beautiful country ceremony should the weather not cooperate.
View of venue space from back at the entrance of the grand staircase. String lights are always included and straight ahead is a large stage. In addition to the 10-8 foot tables there are some antique tables that can utilized like the one in the bottom left corner.
Bar at the back of the barn. Can be moved to desired spot with help of friends!
Prairie grass around the museum.
More prairie grass on museum grounds. As always, I am not a photographer, and these photos are taken in between events and not decorated. They are to show the raw beauty of the space and let your mind imagine the potential it could be, especially if you look on their websites and see others have done with it.
